After the birth of my 4th daughter, those
last 10kg of bubby fat would not budge. I knew it wasn't impossible,
but it seemed too hard a task to tackle on my own. Some friends of
mine encouraged me to join Weight Controllers.
At my first meeting I was welcomed by many of the existing members,
and I immediately felt that I was a member of a group of people who
were all striving to reach the same goal. After listening to the
talk on "Fat Busters" and the advice given, I left the meeting that
morning feeling encouraged and raring to go.
I started my dieting straight away. Or rather than dieting, I'd
prefer to call it "a change of lifestyle". I now walk 3-4 times each
week with my 8 month old daughter in the pram. I eat only what my
body needs daily and I cut down on those comfort foods that I tended
to overeat. I still enjoy my old time favourites - chocolates,
sweets, biscuits,... but in much smaller quantities. Now when I feel
like I need a sweet treat pick-me-up, I try yogurt or dried fruit.
When planning the main meal, I stick to correct portion sizes and
still find I can eat most foods. I drink 8 glasses of water a day. I
know it's the healthiest drink I can consume, and it's free! I
record on a daily sheet everything that I've eaten, the number of
glasses of water, and how far I've walked. I find it helpful to look
back over the past week and see how I'm doing.
Also, each Wednesday I attend the Weight Controllers Meeting and
Weigh-in, and have my weight loss recorded. I've been to four
meetings now and I've lost 6.6kg. It's great to be a part of a group
where we can encourage each other to strive on toward our goal
weight. Trying to lose weight can sometimes be quite difficult and
seem tedious. Being accountable to the Weight Controllers group
gives me the commitment I need to be successful in my weight loss.

| I joined Weight
Controllers 35 years ago, travelling from Highclere to Burnie (many
times in snow). For me it was very important to attend each week, as
this kept you on your toes, and you could look back and see where
you were going wrong.
I lost my weight (2 stone) in the first 12 months. Exercise and
sensible eating are key. You can do this, with the support of
others.
I am a past president and life member. We are always here to help
and encourage each other.
Good luck.
Margret.
