Membership: Benefits & How to Join

BENEFITS YOU ENJOY AS A MEMBER

• ASTA Membership: All members of STAT automatically become members of the Australian Science Teachers' Association (ASTA). Members of ASTA receive the Australian Science Teachers' journal and/or Investigating on a quarterly basis. ASTA members are also entitled to reduced registration fees for the annual national conference, CONASTA.

• Journals: Members of STAT receive the following journals and newsletters:
   

• STATIC newsletter: a few issues per year, important updates of STAT and its activities.
   
• TEACHING SCIENCE Publication:
   

• Professional Learning: STAT conducts a range of professional development activities ranging from K - 12 and covering all areas of science education. The most significant of these activities is our annual conference, CONSTAT, which attracts many science educators from around the state. STAT members we given significant discounts on all professional development activities and preference where numbers we high.

• Student activities: Members receive information on all student activities Tasmanian Science Talent Search is open to all students in Kindergarten to Year 12. It aims to broaden awareness of, and interest in, science throughout the community. As many as 3000 students from all sectors participate in TSTS annually with a large proportion winning awards. Science Week - STAT members receive a free copy of the Science Week Resource Book, which provides many science project ideas on the science week theme. ASTA students competitions - STAT members receive all information regarding Earthworm awards, Poster competitions.

• Teacher Awards and Fellowships: STAT members have access to all awards available through ASTA - some exciting opportunities will be available very soon. ASTA and STAT provide Distinguished Service Awards for members who give exemplary service to these organisations.

1. Subscriptions are due on AGM, and prompt renewal is advisable to ensure continuity of journal mail outs. If subscriptions are not renewed by 1st June membership will lapse.

2. Subscriptions are tax deductible. A receipt will be issued on receipt of payment

3. Student members receive a 25% discount on individual membership. Please include the official stamp of die institution attended. Please include details, on the membership application form, of the institution attended and your student number.
