The Supervisors operate a continuous
pre-kinder programme for the children, involving concurrent indoor and out door
age appropriate activities. Children may choose to play individually or in small
groups, independently or with adults,
indoor or outdoor throughout the session.
This programme provides an environment which is a natural extension of the home
where the child’s play moves between the indoors and outdoors depending on needs
and interests. The continuous programme allows children to play uninterrupted.
Children become decision makers by choosing where they will play, with whom and
for how long and whether they will join a smaller or larger group. Self
confidence and independence are further enhanced as children are able to follow
their interests and initiate and complete activities without unnecessary adult
interruption or redirection.

There are periods of whole group
activities where the children can develop their love
of dramatic play, rhymes, music and movement. The
children especially enjoy singing accompanied by Jenny on her guitar; developing
rhythm and lovely singing voices. Listening to books and stories allows children
to become aware of the rhythm and sound of language and practise the skills of
concentration and sitting quietly.
Children are continuously learning through
play. At Puddleduck we provide the necessary developmentally appropriate, child
friendly activities and routines where creativity and imagination are encouraged
in all expressional modes of play, limited only by the need for safety and
security. At Puddleduck children can enjoy the wonderment of childhood.
