About Rovers

What The Bloody Hell Is A Rover? ~ Rover, n. a male or female Homo sapien aged between 17 and 26 years old, dedicated to fun and adventure, whilst serving the community in the Scouting way.

Rovers are the oldest Youth Section in the Scouting Movement and open to young men and women aged between 17 and 26 years of age. By taking part in the many opportunities available to you as a Rover you will experience fun, fellowship and personal growth - there's no need to have had any previous involvement with Scouting, or any prior outdoor activities experience.

Rovers meet as a Crew and can open the door to a world of adventure, excitement, challenge and achievement. These include outdoor activities such as bushwalking, rafting, canoeing, sailing, caving, 4-wheel driving, rock-climbing, and camping can all form part of a Rover's calendar. There are also social activities such as balls, bush dances, nights out, car rallies, and ‘Moots’ (gatherings of Rovers on a local, national, and even international level) that also feature on an active Rover's program.

These activities offer you the opportunity to mix socially, push yourself physically, challenge yourself mentally and develop spiritually. There are close to 2,600 Rovers throughout Australia and there should be a Rover Crew near you. Each Crew is different and chooses the activities that suit its members the most. Rovers or their equivalent can also be found in many countries throughout the world, offering the opportunity to make great contacts when travelling and take part in international projects.

So, if you have decided that you want to find out more about Rovers, simply head to www.rovers.com.au In TAS, head to www.tasrovers.com or contact us and we'll be able to help you out.

About MFRC

Mt Faulkner Rover Crew began in 1981 and is a Crew with many stories and tall-tales to tell. In 2006 we celebrated our 1st twenty-five years of history! We have a great record of supporting all state-wide Scouting activities and we have a great passion for outdoor pursuits such as bushwalking and 4-wheel driving. We're currently the only Crew in Tasmania to own a buggy 'Sickness Benefits' that competes in the annual Victoria Rover event Mudbash(see 'Photos')

We hold business meetings on the 1st Thursday of every month at the Mt Faulkner Scout Hall located at Austins Ferry near Claremont (Northern suburbs of Hobart). We also have our very own Den located nearby. It houses all our toys such as 'Sickness Benefits', a bar & a wood heater - what more do we need?

Feel free to contact our Crew Leader, Macca on 0437 652 487, send us an E-Mail, or simply check out our program and visit us for a night.
